LGV ASSESSOR NATIONAL REGISTER – Registered LGV Assessors demonstrate that they are committed to upholding high quality LGV driver assessment standards.

Only Assessors that have achieved the sought-after National Register of LGV Assessors qualification can join the register, as this proves they have the training, knowledge, experience and skills to be an effective LGV Assessor. Many UK businesses look for this qualification when employing LGV Assessors.

Teesside LGV Training is a National Register of LGV Instructors (NRI) approved training and examination centre in the North East for Assessor training and Examinations.
The register is operated by RTITB and supported by Logistics UK and Road Haulage Association (RHA), all of whom oversee the standards and future development of the register.

We offer an intensive training course building your skills and abilities so you can achieve a nationally sought after recognised qualification as a NRI Assessor. Our training course will get you prepared to confidently take the Theory test which covers, assessment techniques, legislation, The Highway Code and eco-safe driving.

Our professionally trained Instructors will work with you to bring your driving up to the professional standard required to take the Assessor driving test.

During the training course you will learn the essential skills of how to assess drivers at a professional level, Pre assessment checks including the vehicle walk rounds, the ability to identify faults and write reports. the essential skills of been able to check Driving licences and other credentials.

This course has been extremely successful with feedback from companies regarding the vast improvement in their Assessors abilities. If your role is assessing drivers of all levels this is the one nationally recognised qualification you will require.

ABOUT THE EXAMINATION

For each part of the examination there is guidance material, marking details, or example role-play scenarios available. We recommend you read this information before deciding whether you will need training before taking the examination.

PART ONE – THEORY TEST

70-minute test with 70 multiple choice questions covering assessment techniques, legislation, The Highway Code and eco-safe driving. The overall pass mark is 85% and you also need to achieve a minimum of 80% in each of the four subject areas.

PART TWO – PRACTICAL DRIVING ABILITY

A minimum one-hour drive. You cannot incur any more than six driving faults and you must not incur any serious or dangerous faults. You will be asked to do one of two off road exercises (chosen on the day by the examiner).

PART THREE – ASSESSMENT ABILITY TEST

The examiner takes the role of the driver being assessed in a 90-minute role play of in-cab assessment and reporting. This comprises of 15 minutes for candidates to undertake a pre-assessment briefing and checks, 15 minutes for vehicle familiarity and walk-around checks, 30 minutes for on-road driving assessment and 30 minutes for the candidate to write their assessment report. The pass mark is 50 out of 72 and you will need to achieve a minimum of 20 in Part 1 and 31 in Part 2.

Upon successful completion of the examination, you will finalise your enrolment on the Register by filling out a registration form and agreeing the terms and conditions, before submitting for approval.
