PCV Category D1 licence

Pass your PCV Category D1 licence test and you can drive any 17-seater minibus, or any minibus weighing above 3.5 tonnes.

If you are over 18 and want to gain your PCV (Passenger Carrying Vehicle) licence, you’ll find our whole approach to minibus driver training is reassuringly different to other providers.  (subheading)

How long is the D1 Minibus Course?

This is typically an 8-hour course, but shorter and longer courses can also be arranged depending on your personal needs.  We can also offer flexible training, giving you the option to spread your training over a combination of full and half days, should you prefer.

Course content

Our 1-to-1 D1 Minibus driving course includes both theory and practical stages, and covers all aspects of minibus driving, including:

  • manoeuvring and reversing
  • vehicle safety
  • driving on urban and rural roads
  • bus stop procedures
  • dual carriage and motorway driving
  • off road reversing
  • your final assessment

Additional minibus and Trailer course (Category D1+E)

If you’ve already passed the Minibus test (D1) and want to tow an additional trailer, you also need to take a further D1+E Minibus and Trailer Test.  This extra test is particularly relevant if you drive outdoor activity groups or sports teams.
